Oh, so there IS an English version? :3 How much is this? I've been really interested in getting SAI.

Is it free for the English version? Where did you get yours? Sorry about all the questions, but I've been trying to find out more about this program and get information about where I should go to download it. I just want to make sure what I download is safe.

Very helpful! Thank you! (:

Is there any way to select a part of the drawing and click the fill button for all the base colors?? I find it so aggravating to color in all of the base colors, because it's so time-consuming! I hope this doesn't make me sound lazy.. :iconsweatplz:

Oh I have one question I just recently got Sai and iv'e seen a couple drawings where there is'nt any white backround, it just looks like they cut it out and there's no backround at all. Do you know anything about that??? If you know it would be useful information for me. Thanks!

I don't know if you'd still like to know, but you get that effect by drawing your whole picture in layers above the white background, "hide" the background layer and merge visible... Then save the file as "png" or some other "flat" file type... And when you open it it should have an "invisible" background like that.^^

Yeah, the basics.. I know all this now, but if I want to colour my lineart it won't work. I have created other layers, and tried to draw in them, but there's nothing. No colour. Only if I get my line-art out of sight. Help..?

There is a section on the side where all the layers are that says "Preserve Opaticity." Click on that on the layer of the black lining. You can now color on the same layer without coloring anything other then what is already there

Hope that helped :)

when you install paint tool sai it should have a option of which language you want to install it in... I don't think that paint tool sai has language settings, but what I can do is look it up. The best bet is the main website and faqs.

What is the mask thing used for? :3

The Mask option is used for the process of marking the background around an object to make a selection. its very useful for blending photos and hiding portions of images without altering them directly. This is also safer than clearing/ erasing areas since it doesnt actually remove the areas, but "hides" it.

My tutorial here explains the main basics of the whole program in general. The more you use paint tool sai, the more you'll be able to get used to it. It takes awhile to learn all of what Paint Tool Sai. there is usually not too many tutorials here that actually breaks the program down step by step >.< hope this is not too much

thank you for the basics.. I am very new to this software and your both tutorials are a great help :)
I have questions to ask.
1. On what system paint tool sai uses memory load?
2. Is there any way to increase its memory, I'm using 2 GB RAM and 40 GB hard drive.
3. Like photoshop does Sai also make temporary files while we work on it? for photoshop-I delete those files after I finished my work because it uses the hard drive space.

1) Memory Load in Paint Tool Sai shows how much internal computer memory is being used, I say any system.
the last two questions will be answered with the link i provided you.

it has to do with RAM. if your computer has a little of it,say 512 mb-2mb, the computer not as equipped to handle too many programs at one time without overworking itself and sai possibly crashing. a computer with 4gb of ram can handle things well.
anyway, as the previous computer said, you should keep all other programs closed to keep everything great. other than that, invest in a computer with better RAM

Try to have just Paint Tool Sai open, because other programs opened will cause your computer's CPU to be up high especially if you have more than one program going at one time. (for example if you have firefox or internet explorer open with more than one tab, that will slow down your computer)
